Everybody here at Station 44 would like to congratulate Chris and Kerry Ehrensberger on their new addition to the family. Ms Olivia Dorthea Ehrensberger. She was born  today, and weighed 10lbs 14 oz. and was 22 inches long
Tree In Roadway

Tonight at 19:53 Station 44 was toned out for a tree in the roadway on Route 872 in Keating Township 4 miles from Austin. Chief 44 (D.VanWhy), Chief 44-20 (M.Bacon), FPC 44-90 (R.Setzer), and Captain 44 (R.Freer) all responded at time of dispatch. Chief 44-20 requested Penn Dot to respond at time of dispatch. Once on scene personnel provided traffic control and assisted Penn Dot in removing the tree.

Jim "Chub" Plant

We have received word this morning of the passing of one of the icons of Potter County. Former Austin Fire Chief and Coudersport Paramedic Jim "CHUB" Plant passed away last night of an apparent heart attack. Chub has been involved in the emergency services field since the early 1970’s having served as a Potter County Fire Coordinator, Deputy Coroner and County LEPC Member. He also served as both Fire & Ambulance Chief with Austin for many years and was a Paramedic with Coudersport Regional ALS. At this time we do not have any further details. Further information will be posted as soon as it is available.Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends.



Vehicle Fire

This afternoon Station 44 was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Route 872 in Portage Township. Chief 44-30 (J.Burgett), Chief 44-60 (J.Moate), Chief 44-71 (S.Orlowski) and Captain 44 (R.Freer) all responded at time of dispatch. Moments later Engine 44-2, Tanker 44-5 and Rescue 44-8 would respond.

Everyone here at AVFD would like to congratulate Joe and Crystal Burgett on the birth on their son. The little boy who was born at 15:35 is named Dalton Charles and weighed 7lbs 6.2 oz and is 20 inches long.  Again congratulations and welcome to the family.







2010 MDW Boot Drive

Early Morning Land Rescue

This morning shortly after 08:00 Station 44 was toned out to meet an individual at the Transco building in Wharton Township to take us into the scene of a fallen hunter with unknown injuries. Chief 44-10 (C.Cooney), Chief 44-20 (M.Bacon), Chief 44-30 (J.Burgett), Chief 44-60 (J.Moate) and Chief 44-71 (S.Orlowski) all responded at time of dispatch.
Maple Festival Parade 2010

Today members of Station 44 got together to run Ambulance 44-7 and Engine 44-2 through the annual Maple Festival Parade in Coudersport. Once units made it to the lineup area, they were joined by Station 10 (Galeton), Station 46 (Roulette), Station 47 (Ulysses) and Station 48 (Coudersport).
