Working Fire On Box 44-03

Tonight at 18:20 Station 44 and Station 48 (Coudersport) were dispatched to the scene of a working fire with flames showing on the Crandall Road in Sylvania Township. Chief 44-10 (C.Cooney), Chief 44-20 (M.Bacon), Chief 44-30 (J.Burgett), Chief 44-60 (J.Moate), Chief 44-70 (S.Orlowski) and LT 44 (S.Frank) all responded at time of dispatch. Engine 44-2 and Tanker 44-5 responded just moments later, followed by Tanker 44-15, Rescue 44-8, Patrol 44-4 and Ambulance 44-6. Chief 44-30 was first on scene reporting heavy fire through the roof of the structure and a 500 gallon propane tank in danger, and established Austin Command.

Dispatched For Traffic Contol

Today at 14:25 Station 44 was toned out for traffic control at the intersections of route 155 and route 607. Chief 44-20 (M.Bacon), Chief 44-60 (J.Moate) and LT 44 (S.Frank) all responded at time of dispatch. Patrol 44-4 would respond moments later. Once on scene Chief 44-20 reported a tractor trailer bottomed out on the roadway and both highways were completely blocked. Personnel provided traffic control until they were released by P.S.P.

Station 44 Runs 3rd Call Of The Day

Tonight shortly before 20:00 Station 44 was toned out to assist Ambulance 44-6 with lifting at the scene of a medical emergency in Keating Township. Chief 44-20 (M.Bacon) and Chief 44-30 (J.Burgett) both responded at time of dispatch. Moments later Rescue 44-8 would respond. Once on scene personnel assisted with lifting and loading of patient. Shortly after personnel would return to quarters.

Something Was Cooking

Today at 10:48 Station 44 was toned out for an oven fire in the Austin Boro. Chief 44-10 (C.Cooney), Chief 44-20 (M.Bacon), Chief 44-30 (J.Burgett), Chief 44-60 (J.Moate), Cpt 44 (R.Freer) and Lt 44 (S.Frank) all responded at time of dispatch. Moments later Engine 44-2 and Tanker 44-5 responded. Chief 44-10 on scene and reported no fire and had all units recalled.

Chief Tones Activated

At 01:30 the Chief tones were activated for an unknown type fire on the Cowley Hill Road in Keating Township. Chief 44 (D.VanWhy) responded at time of activation. Moments later Chief 44 was on scene and reported a controlled burn of an old building and all that was left was a pile of smoldering debris and returned available.

Welcome to the Family

Everybody here at Station 44 would like to congratulate Chris and Kerry Ehrensberger on their new addition to the family. Ms Olivia Dorthea Ehrensberger. She was born  today, and weighed 10lbs 14 oz. and was 22 inches long
 
Tree In Roadway

Tonight at 19:53 Station 44 was toned out for a tree in the roadway on Route 872 in Keating Township 4 miles from Austin. Chief 44 (D.VanWhy), Chief 44-20 (M.Bacon), FPC 44-90 (R.Setzer), and Captain 44 (R.Freer) all responded at time of dispatch. Chief 44-20 requested Penn Dot to respond at time of dispatch. Once on scene personnel provided traffic control and assisted Penn Dot in removing the tree.

Jim "Chub" Plant

We have received word this morning of the passing of one of the icons of Potter County. Former Austin Fire Chief and Coudersport Paramedic Jim "CHUB" Plant passed away last night of an apparent heart attack. Chub has been involved in the emergency services field since the early 1970’s having served as a Potter County Fire Coordinator, Deputy Coroner and County LEPC Member. He also served as both Fire & Ambulance Chief with Austin for many years and was a Paramedic with Coudersport Regional ALS. At this time we do not have any further details. Further information will be posted as soon as it is available.Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends.
